Lake Mirage Yacht Club was founded in 1991 to accommodate Lake Mirage residents with an alternate method of boating instead of owning their own boat.  Further, it provided a larger “party boat”.  Until 2002 membership was limited to 45 residents and the Club had established a few low-key traditions.

Beginning in 2002, the Club made many changes.  First, the Club eliminated membership limitations and opened to all owners.  Then it organized as a committee of the Lake Mirage HOA and bylaws were established to govern the Club’s direction.  A decision was made to formalize the yacht club in a traditional sense.  A club burgee (flag) was designed and produced. 

The Club purchased and installed a nautical flagpole to display traditional yacht club flags as well as the American Flag.  A holiday boat parade named “Festival of Lights” was held in the Club’s early years, revived in December 2002, and a version of it has been a holiday tradition every year since.  

Membership has grown to 82 families as of January 2014.  Homeowners, and long-term tenants with appropriate documentation from the homeowner, are eligible for full membership with all privileges.

In 2003 the Club was accepted as a member of the Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA).  This is the first and only yacht club in the Coachella Valley to be a SCYA member.  One benefit is reciprocal privileges to most yacht clubs!
